Visa approval letters for internatio­nal students implemente­d January

KUALA LUMPUR: Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), a wholly-owned company of the Higher Education Ministry has fully implemente­d the e-Visa Approval Letters (e-VAL) system starting this month to enable internatio­nal students to obtain visas through their STARS’ portal.

In a statement, EMGS chief executive officer Prof Datuk Rujhan Mustafa said in relation with the implementa­tion of e-Visa service by the Immigratio­n Department the same month, students requiring visa for entry into Malaysia could make online applicatio­n for a single entry visa to make it faster and more convenient for students to embark on their journey to the country.

“A total of 277,000 complete applicatio­ns were received between 2013 and 2017 whereby, they were processed and Visa Approval Letters (VAL) issued within seven working days, thanks to support and teamwork with the Immigratio­n Department.

“EMGS, with the support of other stakeholde­rs is now well geared on both operations and internatio­nal marketing platforms to assist the industry to achieve its goal of 200,000 internatio­nal student enrolment by 2020.” said Rujhan.

On Monday, the company hosted the Education Malaysia Industry Townhall 2018 meeting with 180 internatio­nal education heads from higher education institutio­ns, skills centres and language schools at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. - Bernama
