Warisan may have forgiven Dr M, but not Upko – Tangau

-

KOTA KINABALU: Upko acting president Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau said Parti Warisan Sabah might have forgiven former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for ‘Project IC', but Upko has not.

“While I have no idea why Parti Warisan Sabah deputy president Darell Leiking has suddenly come out to defend Tun Mahathir by criticizing my statement stating that Sabahans will never forgive Tun Mahathir for Project IC, I take heed of Leiking's criticism,” Tangau said in a statement issued Thursday.

Tangau, who is also Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, said he agreed with Leiking that the most important thing is to solve this longstanding and complicated problem.

“To achieve this, I suggest that Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal takes the lead by starting a campaign and petition to pull back and re-register ICs in his Semporna parliamentary constituency.

“I would also want Darrel Leiking to promise that pulling back and re-registering IC will be the top item in Warisan's manifesto for the upcoming election and suggest he launches this manifesto in Semporna too,” Tangau said, adding that Upko has always been opposed to ‘Project IC'.

“We do not need Warisan to tell us what to do. Warisan should walk the talk and put into action whatever they have said. Warisan may have forgiven Tun Dr Mahathir for ‘Project IC' but Upko will not,” he said.
