Peeping tom fined

KOTA KINABALU: A 23-year-old unemployed man was fined by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday for committing an offence which had caused fear to a woman.

Magistrate Afiq Agoes fined Julsapri Jasman RM25, in default, one month’s jail after the latter pleaded guilty to peeping at the victim in the toilet of a college institutio­n here on January 5.

He was convicted under Section 15 of the Minor Offences Ordinance which carries a maximum fine of RM25 and a jail term of up to two weeks.

Prosecutin­g officer Inspector Lim Swee Beng prosecuted.

Man denies possessing stolen items

KOTA KINABALU: A man claimed trial in the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday to possessing stolen items worth RM300,000,

Jamil Andang, 38, who appeared before magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie, was accused of having the properties, namely a wristwatch, a necklace, a ring and three pairs of earrings belonging to a woman aged 39.

The alleged offence took place at the arrival hall of the Kota Kinabalu Internatio­nal Airport here at 12.50am on December 28, 2017.

He was charged under Section 411 of the Penal Code.

The magistrate set February 12 for case management and the accused was released on RM2,500 bail with two local sureties.
