IP on Tongod land purchase submitted to DPP — MACC
KAJANG: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has completed its investigation on the purchase of an oil palm plantation, worth about RM155 million, in Tongod, Sabah, and the investigation paper (IP) has already been submitted to the deputy public prosecutor (DPP) for further action.
Its deputy chief commissioner (operations), Datuk Seri Azam Baki, said the IP was submitted to the DPP last week.
He told reporters this when met after the Anti-Corruption Revolution Movement (Gerah) with taxi and hired car drivers here yesterday, which was also attended by MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Zulkifli Ahmad.
Last Jan 5, Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) vice-president Datuk Peter Anthony, 46, was detained by MACC when he went to the agency’s office to give his statement on the matter.
However, he was released on a bail of RM55,000 by the Kota Kinabalu Magistrate’s Court on Jan 12.
On the commission’s investigation into alleged power abuse and misappropriation on the Penang undersea tunnel project, Azam did not rule out the possibility of more arrests to be made.
So far, he said, the commission had recorded statements of 20 witnesses.
On whether the MACC would call Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to record his statement on the matter, Azam said there was no need for it at the moment.
