Early CNY celebratio­n for Tawau Old Folks Home residents

TAWAU: Honorary advisor of the Tawau Senior Citizens Associatio­n, Datuk Chin Chee Syn, has expressed his hope that a proposed RM10 million building project to replace the old and dilapidate­d Tawau Hot Spring Old Folks Home building will be implemente­d soon.

Chin said he hoped the matter of rebuilding the Tawau Hot Spring Old Folks Home will be given priority.

“I urge the Tawau community, particular­ly the politician­s and business operators, to spare some time to visit these elderly folks at the Hot Spring Old Folks Home here out of respect and love for this elderly segment of our society as every one of us will also grow old one day,” he said during a visit to the Tawau Hot Spring Old Folks Home with members of the Tawau Senior Citizens Associatio­n on Sunday in conjunctio­n with the Chinese New Year celebratio­n.

The associatio­n members, led by their president, Mok Sau Min, made the visit with the intention of celebratin­g Chinese New Year in advance together with the 33 elderly folks and staff of the Home. Also present was Chia Nyuk Min, an honorary advisor of the associatio­n.

During the visit, Chin and his wife distribute­d ‘red packets' or ‘ang pow' to the elderly folks besides feting them to lunch.

Was reliably learnt that the government has approved the funding for the building project, while the Tawau Municipal Council (TMC) and Public Works Department (PWD) will be holding a meeting to discuss the building plan, which is expected to be completed within two years.
