Grand Slam Explorer, Everest climber visit Tenom school
TENOM: The country needs a young generation with a high spirit and passion to face more challenging times, especially in realising the National Transformation 2050 (TN50), Tenom Umno Youth chief Jamawi Jaafar said.
"The country needs a generation with a determination to set their own future while also defining Malaysia's shape in the future," he said in his speech at the Santai Belia Programme with Grand Slam Explorer Muqharabbin Mokhtarruddin and 2016 Everest climber Tenom-born Molina Sc Abdom here on Sunday.
The program was jointly organised by Tenom Umno and the Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth in collaboration with SMK Entabuan here.
During the programme, Jamawi expressed hopes that the two figures, Muqharabbin and Molina, could become icons to youths in the state and inspire them to struggle in the pursuit of their ideals.
"For these two figures, it was not easy for them to make a name to achieve such success without effort, persistence and fortitude as well as the support of all parties to enable them to bring the name of the nation to the eyes of the world.
"Muqharabbin's success in the quest for exploration to the 90th degrees of the South Pole to become recognised as Grand Slam Explorer and also the success of Molina who conquered Mount Everest should be a stimulant to young people to emulate their fighting spirit to build the country's name rather than tarnish it with self-centred actions," he said.
Jamawi also reminded the youths and students to take the opportunity provided by the government to achieve success in various fields and achieve excellence in education.
He added that the government not only provided various educational infrastructure, but also various assistance and training for youths to venture into various areas of entrepreneurship.
