KOTA KINABALU: The Federation of Chinese Associations of Sabah (FCAS) has expressed its full support for the extension of Datuk Yeo Boon Hai’s tenure as the Mayor of Kota Kinabalu City for another term.

In a statement issued here yesterday, FCAS president Tan Sri T.C Goh said that FCAS’s endorsement of Yeo’s extension is based on the favourable feedback it gathered from the public, the Chinese community included.

“Everyone knows that Yeo is a very hardworking-andapproachable mayor. His office door is always open for the people to see him, if they have any problem. Furthermore, being a Chinese-dominated city, Kota Kinabalu really needs a mayor with able leadership like Yeo to ensure a smooth and dynamic development for the city. Yeo is definitely the right candidate for the job,” he said.

Goh also reminded that it is a tradition that the Mayor of Kota Kinabalu City would normally get to serve for two terms, hence Yeo should be re-appointed for a second term.

“We, in FCAS, sincerely hope that Yeo would be re-appointed so that he can continue to serve the people of Kota Kinabalu, to bring about greater development for the city,” he added.

Yeo, who was formerly the directorgeneral of Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) succeeded Datuk Abidin Madingkir, as the fourth Mayor of Kota Kinabalu, on February 1, 2016.

Yeo was born in Sipitang and has a Bachelor of Science degree with Second Class honours in environmental biology from the United Kingdom.

He joined the state civil service in 1980 as an environmental officer and held various important posts including as Beaufort and Kudat district officer and State Public Service Department principal assistant director.
