Spare no effort for big victory – Najib
KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has urged Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) members to not leave any stones unturned if they wish to win the coming general election.
"We must keep doing our best. Our job will only be finished when the people have cast their votes. We have to see how we can improve ourselves," Najib said during a reception dinner with Sabah BN members at Sutera Harbour Resort yesterday.
"If BN wants to win in the next election, each member must contribute to the party," he stressed.
Najib contended that BN had proven its good track record due to various factors, such as the stabilization of Sabah politics, the peace and harmony enjoyed by Sabahans, the transformation of Sabah as a whole and the tightening of its security measures.
"We do not want anything less than 22 out 25 parliament seats for Sabah and we do not want less than 48 out of 60 state seats for Sabah," he said.
Najib said the people should trust BN as it is a 'consistent' party and not the opposition, which had been rather 'persistently inconsistent'.
He contended that the opposition tends to blindly make promises while the BN government simply delivers.
Najib also took a jibe at Pakatan Harapan interim prime minister candidate Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, questioning how the 92-yearold was supposed to be a 'face of the future'.
"I do not have to say anything else, you can figure it out yourselves," he said.
Najib also said that it was important for the BN members to identify the voters that can be persuaded, the young voters and the undecided voters in the next election.
On the issue of the Malaysian Agreement 1963 (MA63), Najib assured the people of Sabah that he was willing to give back anything that might have been taken or might be taken away from Sabahans.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Haji Aman said each party machinery would be further strengthened to prepare Sabah BN for GE14.
"If we want to win, we must have the right mindset. We must know the way to win, we must have the mentality to win and we must act to win," he said.
