Brother and sister dead, three hurt in Tenom car-lorry crash
TENOM: Two siblings were killed and three others injured, one of them in serious condition in a road accident involving a three-tonne lorry and a car at Jalan Lagud Seberang near here yesterday.
In the incident at about 9am, William Ng Vui Yang, 27, and his sister Ng Vui Ying, 26, died at the scene.
The seriously injured victim was identified as Fo Ket Tang, 27 while his cousin, Wilson Eng Vui Quan suffered light injuries. The four were travelling in the same car.
District police chief DSP Mohd Firdaus Abdullah said Vui Ying was the driver of the car while William was the front passenger. Fo and Wilson were the rear passengers.
He said lorry driver Chew Vui Tsong, 48, suffered minor injuries.
"Initial investigation at the scene found the lorry was heading from Lagud Seberang towards Tenom town, while the Toyota Corolla was from the opposite direction.
"At Km 2, the Toyota Corolla car skidded into the opposite lane and collided with the lorry," he said.
Tenom Fire and Rescue station head Zainal Sinsian said the two dead victims were trapped in their seats.
He said eight firemen and a fire engine rushed to the location upon receiving an emergency call.
All injured victims were sent to Tenom Hospital.
