KENINGAU: Several community leaders and politicians have indicated their full support for incumbent Liawan assemblyman, Datuk Haji Sairin Karno, to defend the seat that he won in the past three general elections in the 14th general election (GE14).

Keningau Chinese Chamber of Commerce (KCCC) chairman, Raymond Koh, said Sairin has shown a high commitment for the welfare and well-being of the people in this area over the past three terms as the people’s representative in the Liawan constituency.

“He has carried out his duties and responsibilities as a leader of the people in a good, friendly, sincere and honest way and had always helped the Chinese community in whatever circumstances. I fully support him to be given the opportunity to defend the seat as a BN candidate in GE14,” he said.

Keningau Umno information chief, Azman Haji Ruslan, said that he also support Sairin to defend the Liawan seat in GE14 in view of his (Sairin) good relationship with state and central leaders.

“For me, Sairin is a peopleoriented leader who understands the people’s needs and is in touch with the pulse of the people in this area. I believe that if the BN leadership gives him the opportunity to defend Liawan constituency, it can win the seat with a big majority in GE14,” he said.

Azman added that Sairin’s leadership is accepted by all parties, whether grassroots leaders, BN component parties or the Chinese community.

A Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Liawan leader, Cleadeus Datuk Kinsik, has described Sairin as the choice of the various religious affiliations of the people in this area and is considered a winnable candidate and he fully supports Sairin defending the Liawan seat in the coming election.

Kampung Senagang village development and security committee (JKKK) chairman, David Lantskang, said Sairin’s leadership was still needed in the Liawan constituency.

“He is a people-oriented leader, easy to be approach, friendly and suitable to represent Liawan. Sairin is the best choice to defend Liawan seat in GE14,” he said.

Keningau Umno committee member, Haji Yazid Mohd Hasnan Tawik, considers Sairin as the most suitable candidate to defend the Liawan seat as his leadership is accepted by all the multi-racial and multi-religious people in the area.

He said Sairin has performed reasonably well in leading the people and fulfilling his responsibilities as an elected representative and had always been close to the people and would go to the ground to resolve problems faced by the people.

For Kampung Gaulan JKKK chairperson, Puan Hannah Chung, she said Sairin is a leader who is very close to the people and is always helping the people in difficult and unpleasant situation.

Sairin, who is the Assistant Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, recently announced that he will defend the Liawan seat which he won on a BN ticket in the last three general elections.

“The people in Liawan still need my leadership and I am ready to defend Liawan in the coming GE14,” he said.

Sairin won the Liawan seat thrice since its creation in 2004. In GE13, Sairin, who contested under a BN ticket, won the seat in a fivecornered contest with a majority of 1,752 votes.
