Drug syndicate operating at nightclubs busted

-

KUALA LUMPUR: More than RM4 million worth of drugs were seized and three people arrested as police busted a major drug syndicate operating in night clubs around the Klang Valley.

Among the three arrested was the mastermind of the CK gang syndicate, said to be behind the supply of party drugs like ecstasy and eramin 5, at entertainment outlets here.

City police chief Comm Datuk Mazlan Lazim said police received a big break when they arrested a man and a woman, aged 29 and 30, near the Kuchai Entrepreneurs Park around 9.20pm on Monday.

“After checking their car, we found a bag with 10 small packets of ecstasy. We were led to a house at Taman Salak Selatan about 20 minutes later and uncovered more drugs,” he said to a press conference at city police headquarters yesterday.

Police found over 13kg of various drugs such as ecstasy in pill and powder form, ketamine, eramin 5 and cannabis.

Comm Mazlan said the duo then led police to a condominium at Sunway Damansara, Petaling Jaya that was used as the syndicate's main storage and packaging base.

“We raided the location around 6.40pm on Tuesday and arrested a 31-year-old man, the mastermind of the group.

“We also seized almost 40kg of ecstasy and some ketamine.

“The total amount seized from the car and two premises is worth around RM4.02 million,” he said.

Two men out of the three detained trio also tested positive for drug use.

He said police are tracking down the remaining members of the syndicate, which has been active for about a year.

“We have been monitoring this group for a while now as they were very elusive,” he said.

He added that the latest arrests would significantly cripple the illicit party drug trade in the Klang Valley.
