Groundbreaking for JB Court Complex before March

-

MUAR: The construction of the Court Complex in Johor Bahru will be accelerated and the groundbreaking ceremony is expected to take place before March this year, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.

Azalina said the construction of the court complex had to be speeded up as the existing court was unable to cope with the congestion and the court was forced to use a private building due to insufficient space and the exorbitant cost of land in Johor Bahru.

“Hopefully, at the request of the Sultan (the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar) it will be expedited and I was told that the Johor state government has identified the site,” she told reporters after the opening ceremony of the Muar Courts Complex here yesterday.

Sultan Ibrahim when opening the Muar Court Complex, also urged for the construction of the Johor Bahru Court Complex to be expedited as the existing court was unable to meet the needs of the community.

Azalina said the cost of construction of the Johor Bahru Court Complex is expected to exceed RM200 million and would be the largest court in Johor and the most sophisticated in the country as it comes with the latest information technology facilities.

She said Sultan Ibrahim also contributed his input in terms of design for the ten-room court so that it would be a symbol of pride for the people of Johor. Bernama
