Keningau Media Fun Run Feb 24

KENINGAU: The media has a big role in strengthen­ing community solidarity in the state, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Tan Sri Joseph Kurup here.

He praised the efforts of the Sabah Keningau Journalist Associatio­n (KJA) in an effort to strengthen unity in the state, especially in this area.

He said that through the Media Fun Run program, themed ‘Run For Unity’, it proved that the media helped a lot in uniting people not only in the writing of their news or reports but also in organizing the program.

“I believe the noble effort of the people’s participat­ion in this program will have an impact on the spirit of unity among the people and leaders, as well as family institutio­ns with the participat­ion of parents and children,” he said during a mock-cheque presentati­on at his office here yesterday.

He said the program also fostered healthy lifestyle practices among the public through sports activities.

Kurup, who is also Pensiangan Member of Parliament, thanked KJA for organizing a program which is the currentint­erest of the people, and this program will certainly help strengthen the community’s solidarity in this area.

Meanwhile, KJA President and Chairman of the Coordinati­ng Committee, Francis Andin said the 4.5 km Media Fun Run will be held on February 24 starting and finishing at the municipal field here.

At the ceremony, Kurup presented a mock cheque for RM8,000 for the program to Francis.

Also present at the event were Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) Deputy President, Arthur Joseph Kurup, Pensiangan Parliament­ary Liaison Officer, Rayner F. Udong and KJA committee members.
