Radio,TV news reader joins PBS
TUARAN: Radio/TV personality, Constantine Anthony or better ��nown as Constantine Palawan, has joined the Barisan Nasional (BN) through Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS)��
On Sunday, the veteran newscaster handed over his PBS membership application form to Tuaran BN chairman, Datuk Seri Hj Hajiji Hj Noor, during the launch of the BN GE14 election machinery at Dewan Seri Sulaman here.
Also at the event were PBS Sulaman acting chief, Stephen Ebon Sayah, PBS Tamparuli head, Datuk Jahid Jahim, and PBS Kiulu chairman, Datuk Louis Rampas. The Sulaman, Tamparuli and Kiulu state constituencies fall under the Tuaran parliamentary constituency.
Also present were Tuaran BN deputy chairman, Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau, Kiulu assemblyman, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, and heads of Tuaran BN component parties and more than 2,000 BN supporters.
Constantine has had 20 years’ experience in the communications and broadcasting field. He started off as a Radio Malaysia Sabah English DJ and news reader before being ‘promoted’ to read English news over TV2 in Kuala Lumpur.
When interviewed, he said that he is currently taking a break from national TV. In Sabah, he is giving a helping hand to Sabah VFM, Radio Malaysia Sabah where he started his mass media career.
When asked why he joined politics, in particular PBS, Constantine explained that he wanted to use his experience to contribute to Sabah in general and Tuaran, in particular, the place where he came from, especially in helping the government explain the TN50 policy to the youths.
“Being a local, PBS is the obvious choice. Furthermore, I am attracted by the leadership style of Tuaran BN chairman, Datuk Seri Hj Hajiji. Although I am not in Umno, I am still in BN,” he added.
During the event, several new members were also accepted into various component parties of Tuaran BN.
Also present were Sulaman LDP chief, Datuk Alex Lo, Tuaran MCA chief, SK Chua, and Tamparuli PBRS head, Handry Luaran.
