Foster Islamic spirit of unity, Ramlee tells Muslims

SEMPORNA: Muslims are urged to abide by the teachings of Islam which emphasises unity to preserve the solidarity and cooperatio­n in our multi-racial society��

Assistant Finance Minister, Datu�� Ramlee Marahaban said Muslims should not use difference­s, including political belief as a source of disunity that will not bring any good��

Ramlee said Muslims should foster the spirit of togetherne­ss as taught by Prophet Muhammad to maintain the harmonious and peaceful condition that we enjoy together with the nonMuslim community��

“The responsibi­lity to maintain unity is a shared responsibi­lity that should not be ta��en lightly by anyone��

“Unity is not only to maintain harmony and peace, but also the basic condition that could contribute to the developmen­t of the country,” he said at the Semporna district level Maulidur Rasul celebratio­n on Saturday��

According to Ramlee, who is also Bugaya assemblyma­n, the Barisan Nasional (BN) government also emphasized on Islamic developmen­t in the country��

Ramlee said various initiative­s have been implemente­d by the government to preserve the sanctity of Islam��

He said the efforts to develop Islam are also implemente­d in all areas, including Semporna��

“We should be grateful as Semporna was never left out in all aspects of developmen­t including religious developmen­t��

“Soon we will have a new mosque that will be built on five acres of land with an allocation of RM9 million where this mosque will be able to accomodate 1,700 congregati­on at one time,” he added��

In the meantime, a total of 57 contingent­s participat­ed in the parade in conjunctio­n with the Maulidur Rasul celebratio­n at the Semporna community hall��

The celebratio­n was not only to foster the spirit of togetherne­ss among Muslims, but also to instil the love for Prophet Muhammad��
