Sabah futsal squads target NFL main draws
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah men’s and women’s futsal teams pledged their best efforts as they eye the main draws of the National Futsal League (NFL) 2018.
In order to book their berth, however, the state contingents must first play in the NFL qualifiers happening at the Panasonic Sports Complex in Shah Alam, Selangor from January 25-28.
Sabah Football Association (Safa) Futsal and Beach Soccer Committee chairman Yamani Hafez Musa urged the state players to give their best in order to clear the first hurdles.
“I hope the state futsal players will show the discipline, determination and fighting spirit to qualify for the National Futsal League which will kick off in February,” he said.
The committee deputy chairman Mohd Asyraaf Fong Abdullah delivered Yamani Hafez’s words of encouragement before the team left for Shah Alam at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport here yesterday.
Yamani Hafez also revealed that the state squad would also include the state’s Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2018 trainees.
“They are in the squad because we want to give them the early exposure in preparation for the Sukma which Perak will host in September,” he added.
The full men’s team comprise Mohd Ahzar Aris, Haslan Harun, Fadzlizan Ahmad, Mohd Ridzwan Bakri, Marwan Kadir, Andi Habbibbi Ambo, Mohd Iftitah Ahmad, Mohd Ahzuan Khan Ahman, Mardi Makmur, Mohd Nazri Farhan Abdullah, Mohd Faizul Abdullah, Mohd Zulhairi Haris, Mohd Suzairee Samail, Mohd Syafiq Mohd Salleh, Mohd Syafiq Mohd Salleh, Mohd Kamal Mat nasar, Hernoman Appid, Izzamuddin Mohd Yusup and Sharizam Sahar.
Azman Soaibah is the head coach of the team and assisted by Rusli Hussin. The team manager is Ruziman Guspini.
As for the women’s team, the players are Masturah Majid, Shereillyn Elly Pius, Jaciah Jamulis, Haindee Mosroh, Pedrolia Martin Sikayu, Eslilah Esar, Usliza Usman, Ji.Fedalliah Claritta Jaimin, Lovella Julia Jelus, Dadree Rofinus, A. Nuraziela Ali Jainal, Effy Norizan Musinan, Sharmilla Natasha Jani, Nurhalizah Ahmad, Dayang Siti Zulaika Johari, Petreaslea Asun, Asma Junaidi, Juliana Ferdinand, Clayrisca Edward and Tesslonica Angel Stanislaus.
The head coach is Rosmadih Wasli and assistant Erwan Daud. Jerry @ Jefry Empil is the team manager.
Meanwhile, 18 teams will be involved in the men’s category of the qualifying rounds.
The teams are Sabah, Perlis, Kedah, Sarawak, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor PJ Tigers, Selangor United-MPSJ, Selangor UiTM FC, Pahang Poly FC, Pahang Kuantan Rangers FC, Pahang Kuantan Rangers FC U20, Pahang PST-IIUM Mustangs, Pulau Pinang NTFA, KelantanKota FC, Kelantan Kota BahruPKB, Kelab Bolasepak Darul Ridzuan and Kuala Lumpur Marcerra United FC.
Six teams will play in the women’s qualifiers namely Sabah, Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor UnitedMPSJ, Kelantan Tanjung Che Mas (TCM FC) and Kuala Lumpur Immigration FC.
