Stay with Barisan – Musa

SANDAKAN: Stay with the Barisan Nasional (BN) as the national coalition has a good track record, said Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman yesterday.

“Unlike some other parties that ‘disappear’ after election, we (BN) stayed. We are not seasonal and we are here to ensure that everything is well.

“Other than education, we also ensure the safety (security) of the people and other aspects as well, like building hospital(s).

“We are committed in ensuring the safety of the people, our security forces are doing great. That is why it is important to stay with BN, we have the (good) track record,” he said while adding the BN had brought vast development to Sabah.

Musa said this during a ‘Pemimpin Di Hati Rakyat’ programme held at Sibuga District Voting Centre (DVC) mile 9 here yesterday.

The Chief Minister said that he hoped the DVC Sibuga will be ready before the next election and ensure that there is coordination so that the BN candidate here would win.

During the programme, 365 students received school bags while 25 senior citizens were given financial assistance.

“This is how BN works. We help the school children so that they will study hard and become successful in their life.

“It has been our vision to see our children (younger generation) to be successful in their studies and help their parents in the future.

“That is why we set up the Sandakan Education Hub with Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Politeknik, MRSM and more to come; to assist local parents in saving cost as they now do not need to send their children overseas, Peninsula or Kota Kinabalu to further their education,” Musa said.

Also present were Assistant Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Zakaria Edris, Libaran member of parliament Datuk Juslie Ajirol, Sandakan Municipal Council deputy president Mohamad Hamsan Awang Supain and chairman of Umno Libaran Education Bureau, Datuk Salzo Asa.

Earlier, head of DVC Sibuga, Hamsain Jausin said that the centre is ready to face the coming election.

“We will support the party (BN), and whoever the candidate may be. Our leader, the Chief Minister had brought to us so much development, we will continue to support him,” he said.

Musa also said Umno has a clear direction in helping the people and allowing its leaders to fulfil their obligation effectively.

He said that it can be seen with the organised framework within Umno, with its leaders going to the ground to meet the people.

Speaking to reporters after the Libaran division’s “Umno assists the people 2.0” programme organised by Umno Welfare Bureau, Musa stressed that there is no party in the world that has a good, comprehensive and orderly framework as Umno, the party that serves people.

“The leadership of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as Umno president has implemented many policies and programmes to help the people nationwide.

“Therefore, I believe the people of Sabah, as strong supporters of the Barisan Nasional, will reciprocate these good deeds to ensure the rapid progress will continuously benefit them,” he added.

“The BN government always goes to the ground to see for itself the needs of the people and help them from time to time,” said the Umno Supreme Council member.

Two thousand needy individuals and students in the Libaran parliamentary constituency received aid through the Umno Bantu Rakyat 2.0 programme organised by the Umno Malaysia welfare bureau yesterday.

This constituency became the first location for implementation of the aid programme in the state this time, with 1,000 people each receiving a hamper of daily necessities worth RM100.

Meanwhile, 1,000 students received a savings account of RM100 each under the National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN-I) of the National Higher Education Fund Corporation.

Musa, who is also Libaran Umno division chief, launched the programme, with the party’s welfare bureau chairman Datuk Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, also present.

Shamsul Anuar, in his speech, said after Libaran, the second series of the programme in Sabah would continue in Batu Sapi, Semporna, Tenom, Beaufort and lastly, Kota Belud, this Friday.

The Umno Supreme Council member said the first series was carried out last year, covering 13 parliamentary constituencies in the state.

Shamsul Anuar said the idea for the programme came from Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and vice-president carrying out the duties of party deputy president, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, to help those in need, in line with the party’s struggle.

“This programme is no rhetoric but carried out with sincerity, with the aid given to those in need regardless of their political ideology, proving that we are fair to all,” he said.

Under this aid programme in the Libaran area, 10 houses had their electrical wiring repaired at a cost of RM3,000 per house and a change of engine oil for 200 motorcycles.
