Pakatan Harapan PM will not be similar to BN PM, says Muhyiddin

KOTA KINABALU: The Prime Minister under Pakatan Harapan (PH) will not be similar to a Barisan Nasional (BN) Prime Minister.

Pakatan Harapan deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said firstly, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was endorsed to become the Prime Minister by consensus by all four parties within the coalition.

And secondly, as the Prime Minister under PH, Mahathir will have to act in accordance with how the coalition wants him to act, which as the Prime Minister he will be guided by a policy that has been spelled out by the PH Presidential Council, he said.

And before Mahathir attends to the cabinet on matters of policy, it will be discussed by the parties and supreme council of PH, he added.

“He (Mahathir) will express his views but other leaders will also express their views. It will be different in that sense,” said Muhyiddin.

Muhyiddin also said Mahathir would come to Sabah as an introduction of him as the incoming Prime Minister.

As the Prime Minister, Mahathir is also bound by the things that had been promised to the people.

Among the things that will transpire within the first 100 days would be the release of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from imprisonment and the abolishment of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), he said.

“The things that we have promised in the manifesto -- that will be closely monitored by the leaders of Pakatan to make sure our Prime Minister fulfils that obligation.”

“So, what I am trying to say is that the name is Prime Minister but he is limited to terms of office and not more than two terms and he will not sit as the Minister of Finance,” he said.
