KOTA KINABALU: The president of Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCCI), Datuk Michael Lui, welcomes the amnesty day for parking and parking coupon compounds.

Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister cum minister-in-charge of the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK), Datuk Edward Yong Oui Fah, on Tuesday announced the amnesty day in conjunction with Kota Kinabalu’s 18th City Day.

Lui said the amnesty offer is reasonable and this will allow the city folks to settle their parking compounds and old parking tickets which would only be charged RM10 for each compound.

“It is indeed good news for those who had arrears of parking tickets before the implementation of the coupon system whereby vehicle owners only have to pay RM10 for each vehicle,” he said.

Lui, who is also DBKK advisor, urged the public to grab the opportunity to pay their outstanding parking compounds and tickets at the payment counters, ground floor, DBKK building from 8am to 9.30pm on Feb 2.

He said the amnesty month for settling parking coupon offences and arrears for parking tickets will continue from February 3 to March 31 where parking coupon compound and arrears for the old parking tickets will only be charged according to the original value.

He further reminded the public that they must be aware that the offer given on amnesty day are not the same as those offered during the amnesty month.

Yong said that compounds issued under the said by-laws, involving illegal parking and coupon parking offences, would only be charged RM10 for each compound.

Motorists who had arrears of parking tickets (under the previous parking ticket system before coupon system was implemented) would also be given discounts and vehicle owners would only pay RM10 for each vehicle to settle the arrears.
