KUALA LUMPUR: Unifi, the high-speed broadband under Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM), has targeted to secure 1.5 million customers by year-end.

Unifi Executive Vice-President, Imri Mokhtar, said there were one million subscribers as of June 2017 and he was confident there would be an additional 500,000 customers by year-end.

“We took seven years to achieve the one million milestone since we first launched Unifi in 2010, and we aim to have 1.5 million subscribers this year with the launch of our marketing campaigns nationwide,” he told reporters after the launch of the refreshed Unifi brand here yesterday.

He said the marketing campaigns would include doorto-door visits from Unifi’s ‘Perfect Squad’ to get new customers to sign up for the service.

Also present were TM Managing Director/ Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Seri Mohammed Shazalli Ramli, and Executive Director/ Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Bazlan Osman.

Imri said Unifi also planned to increase its public wifi locations from the current 10,000 to 100,000 locations nationwide this year.

He said that Unifi was the one and only brand in Malaysia which offered truly seamless Internet connectivity everywhere -- at home, via public WiFi and mobile services -- as well as a wide array of world class content, all under one roof.

“Unifi is perfecting the convergence experience to empower our customer’s digital aspirations.

“By doing so, it would further strengthen our role as the key enabler in realising the nation’s digital economy aspirations and accelerate the adoption of a truly converged digital lifestyle and Internet of Things,” he said.

As part of its marketing effort, Imri said, Unifi had rolled out various initiatives, including rewarding its customers with one million complimentary 20-gigabyte subscriber identification module cards and Unifi television’s innovative live interactive gameshow, ‘Teka Tekan’, which offered RM20,000 in daily cash prizes for its viewers.
