Jubir champion of Suan Lamba Kinabatangan Golf Challenge
KOTA KINABALU: Jubir Recardo emerged as the winner at the Suan Lamba Kinabatangan Golf Challenge which was held at the Nexus Golf Resort Karambunai (NGRK) on Sunday.
Jubir scored 43 points (System 36 Stableford format) for a comfortable four-point win over nearest rival Rahia Arpiah in the one-day tournament, which was organised by the Suan Lamba Youth Association (PBSL) together with the Youth and Sports Ministry.
Jubir also won the A Category (0-12 Handicap) with a five-point advantage over runner-up Ahmad Barhama, who scored 38 points.
Kazree Kalim, Ben Faruru and Fauzi Antahar completed the top five on countback after all three scored 37 points.
In the B Category (1324), Rahia Arpaih scored 39 points to edge his rivals by two strokes. M. Razuan Abdullah was second on countback, followed by Aliasin Arpain in third spot and Jaineh Mansu in fourth on 36 points, while Paunggin Ransoi was fifth on 35.
The Junior category saw a close rivalry after Ampuan Ikram Shah and Bryan William both finished on 36 points. The former concluded in top spot on countback while Derrick Kong was third on 35 points, followed by Shawn Lam in fourth on 34.
There was also fierce rivalry in the Ladies’ section where three players scored 36 points. Nabilah Aliffudin won after countback, followed by Valerie Vanessa Langkab in second spot and Dayangku Nur Wafiwah in third, while Yong Ke Ling was fourth on 34 points.
Mat Jaidin Md Yassin from the Youth and Sports Ministry won the VIP category. He edged Sapawi Tussin on countback after both players scored 36 points. Industrial Development Minister cum Assistant Minister to the Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Bolkiah Ismail, was third on 35.
Assistant Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Masiung Banah presented the prizes to the winners.
