Umno a special party – Shamsul

TENOM: Umno is a special party because it takes care of everyone, regardless of race, religious and political backgrounds, said its welfare bureau chairman Datuk Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah.

He said Umno was also special as it comprised of different ethnicities and religions (the Malays and Bumiputera), thus demonstrating the party's ability to unite the people in the country under one direction and principle.

“This is the advantage of Umno. Our members are of the Malays and Bumiputera from different religions and backgrounds.

“... and in Tenom, this is evident, seeing party members from Dusun, Murut and Lundayoh. This shows our diversity. This is the strength of the party (Umno),” he told reporters after the Umno People's Aid programme here yesterday.

For example, he said, the schooling aid given to children in Tenom yesterday, in conjunction with the Umno People's Aid programme clearly outweighed race and political backgrounds.

At the event, Shamsul Anuar handed over a mock cheque of RM30,000 to Tenom Umno division chief Datuk Rubin Balang for selected students from around the constituency to open a National Education Savings Scheme (SSPNi) account.

Meanwhile in BEAUFORT, Shamsul Anuar said the Barisan Nasional government wanted to carry out more aid and welfare programmes if given the mandate to lead the government in the coming general election. - Bernama
