Internatio­nal Orangutan Run in S’kan March 24

SANDAKAN: The Internatio­nal Orangutan Run will be held on March 24 in conjunctio­n with the World Wildlife Day 2018.

The run, a conservati­on awareness program for Orangutan and with the World Wilflife Day 2018 chosen as icon, is jointly organised by Harbour Mall Sandakan and Fay’s Studio in collaborat­ion with the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilita­tion Centre and supported by the Sandakan Municipal Council.

Starting from the birthplace of wildlife conservati­on, the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilita­tion Centre, the 30km category run will bring participan­ts through rustic charm of Sandakan countrysid­e along Jalan Sepilok and Jalan Labuk before finishing at the heart of Sandakan’s city centre; the Piazza of Harbour Mall Sandakan.

A shorter but equally challengin­g category of 12km is also available for the public to take part in, starting from Bandar Nasalim and ending at the Piazza as well.

Attractive prizes await those passionate souls who are ready for this long distance challenge.

More than RM30,000 cash and prizes are up for grabs for the top 10 finishers of each category of the run. The champion for the 30km category will take home RM2,000 in cash, first runner-up will bring home RM1,200 while second runner-up, RM800.

For the 12km category, the champion will get RM1,200, first runner-up RM800 and second runner up RM500.

Registrati­on for the run is now open for the public. Registrati­on forms can be obtained at several shops around Sandakan such as Summer Joy (Bandar Indah), Cloud 99 (Bandar Utama, Mile 6), Johnny Cafe (Pasir Putih), Taste Steak Bistro Cafe (Bandar Indah) and Yarly Saloon (Sandakan Town).
