Pairin assures devt programs will continue in Tambunan
TAMBUNAN: Incumbent Tambunan state assemblyman and Keningau MP Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, who confirmed that he would not be contesting in the 14 general election, has assured the people in this area that development would continue in the district through a new elected representative.
He said planned projects would be continued by his successor.
“This is my guarantee to the people in this district that although I no longer represent the people after the 14th general election, the successor will continue with the development that has not yet been implemented,” he said when officiating at the Kampung Timbou community hall building, here.
Pairin, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, has also played a leading role in developing the Tambunan and Keningau areas including Sabah despite the challenges faced.
He said he was also grateful to the people who had made a lot of criticisms that had helped leaders to strive to bring about progress and development in this area.
“I also want to emphasize that there were many challenges and criticisms, especially the story of a road not being ready,” he said.
He said there were also developments that the people needed such as roads, bridges, electricity or water supplies.
“I will try to work even though I have retired,” he said.
Pairin also urged the residents to engage in the tourism industry which could improve their living standard.
“I believe foreign and domestic tourists who visited this area last year will return after visiting places of interest besides seeing the uniqueness of the culture and art of the people in this area,” he said.
He also congratulated the coordinating committee members of Visit Tambunan Year 2017 (VTBN2017) headed by its chairman and District Officer Thomas Logijin for the success of the program.
