New JCI Intan president to work on community projects
KOTA KINABALU: Newly sworn-in 43rd Junior Chamber International Intan (JCI Intan) president Dina Marius is setting her eyes on working on various community projects this year with her team.
Dina in her inaugural speech at the organisation’s 43rd Installation and Award Banquet said the new board of directors and members were geared up to organise their flagship project ‘Youth Leadership Camp’.
“Every year, JCI Intan conducts an empowerment training for local rural youths and it has never failed to motivate them.
“JCI Intan takes pride in our training, and words cannot describe the great impact we did to the rural youths,” she said.
Dina also announced several other plans of action to be conducted by JCI Intan this year.
Earlier, her predecessor, Abby Muztaba, also highlighted the same project and the many accomplishments the organisation had done in 2017, especially successfully hosting the Area Sabah Convention.
She also conveyed her utmost gratitude to the various government bodies, corporate companies and fellow and non JCI individuals.
Meanwhile, guest of honour for the night, C.K Lee of Homesign Network, admired the strong dedication and passion shown by JCI Intan members who strove to become young active leaders in this world, while in the process are actively engaging with the government.
He also highlighted that JCI Intan had produced so many prominent women leaders in society such as the past JCI World Officers, JCI Senators and even top leaders and successful businesswomen.
He believes that an effective way to progress and create positive, sustainable impact at the grassroots level is through strategic collaborations.
Homesign Network will be collaborating with JCI Intan this year in the construction of incinerator apparatus in five identified villages in Penampang, namely Kg Inobong, Kg Kibambangan, Kg Nampasan, Kg Babah and Kg Pogunon.
During the function, organising chairperson Annemarie Kinsuan also mentioned that another objective of the function was to award deserving non and JCI Intan’s individuals and projects for their outstanding contribution to the organisation in 2017.
2008 president Safarina Wasli was also conferred the JCI senatorship by JCI Malaysia Senate president Neelkrish Perumal and JCI Malaysia national president Senator Kelvin Chew during the function.
JCI Intan is one of the 68 local organisations in JCI Malaysia which is based in Kota Kinabalu. One of the two all-female chapters in the country, JCI Intan was established on March 4 1975, and has since produced and empowered active citizens in these four areas of development: individual, business, community and international.
