AirAsia-Tourism Malaysia partnershi­p offers up to 70 pct cut in fares to all Malaysian destinatio­ns

KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia Bhd has continued its partnershi­p with Tourism Malaysia with a new promotion of up to 70 per cent off fares to all Malaysian destinatio­ns.

In a statement yesterday, AirAsia said, the promotion was launched on Friday by Tourism and Culture Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazril Aziz, and its Commercial Head, Spencer Lee, at the Asean Tourism Forum in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

“The regional promotion is aimed at boosting Malaysia’s tourism sector, the country’s second-largest source of income, in conjunctio­n with Visit Malaysia Year 2020, which targeted 36 million tourists and RM168 billion in tourism receipts,” it said.

Lee said the airline looked forward to working even more closely with Tourism Malaysia to offer better connectivi­ty into and within Malaysia.

AirAsia said last year, it and Tourism Malaysia signed a two-year memorandum of agreement (MOU) to promote tourism in Malaysia.

“The MOU covers brand advertisin­g, promotiona­l activities and campaigns, familiaris­ation trips for consumer and trade associatio­ns, media, travel agencies, greater tourism developmen­t and route network synergy, market intelligen­ce sharing, joint roadshows to market Malaysia to trade partners,” it said.

The airline said it was offering up to 70 per cent off fares to all Malaysian destinatio­ns for travel between Aug 1 and Nov 22, this year on all bookings made from now until Jan 28, using the AirAsia app or on airasia.com. — Bernama
