Najib joins ETS passengers to Tanjung Malim

KUALA LUMPUR: Passengers of the Electric Train Service (ETS) for the KL Sentral-Tanjung Malim stations route were very lucky and excited yesterday morning to have Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak joined them to use the service to reach his destinatio­n to meet the people.

Najib, who arrived at the KL Sentral station with his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor at 7.55 am also mingled and chatted with the train personnel and passengers at the KL Sentral station, a modern transporta­tion hub, which began operation in 2001.

Starting the journey at 8 am to Tanjung Malim station in Perak for breakfast with local residents at the Tanjung Malim Food Court, Najib, who was also accompanie­d by Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, chatted with the ETS driver who operated the train.

During the 84.6 km-long journey, Najib and Rosmah had the opportunit­y to be served with the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) breakfast menu of fried beehoon and teh tarik before joining the passengers and obliging their requests for picture-taking as remembranc­e.

Najib and his wife, who seemed relaxed in their interactio­n with the people, also expressed their satisfacti­on with the ETS service, the heartbeat of public transport, to the KTMB staff.

The journey took about one hour and thirty minutes through three stations namely Kuala Lumpur, Kepong Sentral and Rawang before arriving at Tanjung Malim Station at about 9.30am.
