Kurup calls for unity to maintain harmony
KENINGAU: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup urged the people here to unite in order to maintain the harmony and well-being of life in this beloved country.
He said public amenities such as the construction of a multipurpose hall could enhance the unity of the people.
“The multi-purpose hall building can be used as a place for them to gather and conduct various community activities and this will strengthen their relationship with each other,” he said when opening the Kampung Sasagahan mini hall building in Sook here on Friday.
At the same time, he also urged the villagers to take care of the facility provided by the government so that it would not damaged.
Kurup also urged youths to continue to be active in promoting their existing talent and skills in the field of entrepreneurship.
He said youths should venture into entrepreneurship as various aid were provided by the government.
Kurup, who is also the Pensiangan member of parliament, said the Barisan Nasional (BN) government had brought development to the people in his parliamentary constituency, including Sook.
“The development is aimed at providing convenience and comfort to the people. We can see the difference between the past and present development in this area.
“Hence, the people need to continue to support BN in the 14th general election so that all planned development can be implemented,” he said.
He also advised the villagers not to be easily influenced by the promises made by certain parties.
“They are only good at promising but not good at implementing,” he said.
Kurup also presented 170 plastic chairs for use at the hall and a set of kitchenware for the women to use during the event.
A total of 200 villagers including Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah deputy president Arthur Joseph Kurup, PBRS Youth chief Matusin Bowie, organizing chairman Helmy Andreas and community leaders were present.
