MIRI: Layang-Layang Aerospace Sdn Bhd brought a smile to a four-year-old boy suffering from leukaemia when they fulfilled his dream of flying in a helicopter.

“He was so happy when we flew him around Miri’s sky in the B0105 Airbus Eurocopter. He told me that he could even touch the sky,” Captain Irwin M Menezes told The Borneo Post yesterday.

On Saturday, the boy who was brought on a brief visit to the Layang-Layang hangar lingered at the terminal and took photos as the heavy rain prevented him from doing much.

He was accompanied by a doctor from Miri Hospital and volunteers from Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS).

“The weather was good today (yesterday), so we invited them here again to bring him on a flight in the helicopter. Though it was a brief one, at least this boy has fulfilled his dreams,” said Captain Irwin.

He added that Layang-Layang Aerospace group managing director Johan Poong Abdullah had always been a very charitable person, and he had inspired his employees and team to follow in his footstep.

Meanwhile, SCCS president Jocelyn Hee expressed her happiness that they had been able to help the toddler fulfil his dream.

The flight was part of SCCS Last Wish Project to help palliative patients fulfil their wishes which may be a simple toy and riding a motorcycle to something that is much bigger such as visiting the Legoland.
