Yang di-Pertuan Agong Scholarshi­p opens for applicatio­n

PUTRAJAYA: A total of 12 Yang di-Pertuan Agong Scholarshi­p (BYDPA) slots with six each at the Master’s and doctorate levels, for the 2018/2019 session are now open for applicatio­n.

The Public Service Department (PSD) in a statement yesterday said the scholarshi­p was to give outstandin­g candidates the opportunit­y to pursue education at a higher level in science and technology, economics, law and Islamic finance.

The applicatio­n can be made by filling the online applicatio­n form at http://esilav2.jpa.gov. my and the applicants will have until March 2 to submit the applicatio­n form.

The statement further said that priority will be given to candidates who obtained excellent academic results of cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.75 or first class or equivalent in their Degree or Master’s level that were recognised by the government and active in co-curricular or community activities or produced creative and innovative work.

“Priority will also be given to candidates with exceptiona­l abilities such as proficienc­y in several languages and other special skills,” it said.

It also said that the candidates must have obtained a place at a local research universiti­es or at the world’s leading research universiti­es approved by the PSD for the 2018/2019 session.

The statement also said that the recipients of BYDPA would be bonded to serve in Malaysia for a period of not less than five years and those who have graduated overseas will be required to return home after the duration of the sponsorshi­p.
