Chinese should not be afraid to voice their needs — Ghapur

-

TAWAU: Kalabakan member of parliament Datuk Seri Abdul Ghapur Salleh urged Chinese leaders in his area not to be afraid to voice any issues or needs of their community in the area to him.

As a Barisan Nasional (BN) leader, he said the interests and needs of the Chinese community were of prime importance and he would work to help resolve any problems or needs they face.

Ghapur said he hoped they would not shy away as the Chinese community know his phone number, including that of an appointed Chinese Kapitan and they can invite him any time if there is any problem.

He said this when interviewed after officiating at the Taman Hot Spring Jaya’s 2018 Chinese New Year celebration on Monday night.

Ghapur said he had also asked the Tawau Municipal Council to check if there was a need for development projects in the Hot Spring which is mostly inhabited by the Chinese community.

He said this was to ensure that the area would not be marginalized in terms of development such as roads, drainage and so on.

Ghapur also urged leaders of the Chinese community to speak up about the problems faced by the four Chinese schools in his area so that proper assistance could be managed by his side, just like the assistance given to other schools in his area.

He said he knew that the big problem of Chinese schools was the lack of computers and he would try to solve the problem.
