Team KK sweep MSSM golf tourney titles

KOTA KINABALU: Team Kota Kinabalu grabbed all six titles on offer in the West Level MSSM Golf Tournament that ended at the Nexus Golf Resort Karambunai (NGRK) recently.

The all-conquering City squad claimed top placing for the Under18, Under-15 and Under-12 categories for boys and girls.

Sabah top junior Christophe­r Daniel James led the clean sweep with his win in the Boy’s Under-18 age group by three shots.

Christophe­r carded 81 to beat Muhd Zaeem Mohd Yasin (84) and Khubaib Matning (90) to the gold.

In the Girl’s Under-18, Chew I Youn played 77 to beat teammate Charlayne Chong Shin Ling by twostroke while third place also went to another Kota Kinabalu golfer, Valerie Vanessa Langkab, with 82.

The Boy’s Under-15 was a close battle between Bryan William James and Ampuan Ikram Shah. The former won on countback with both playing 80.

Third place went to Timothy Lo Thien Ming with 81.

A score of 83 saw Nabila Alifuddin emerge as the comfortabl­e winner in the Girl’s Under-15 with Yong Ker Ling of Tuaran Irsalina Akmadin of Kota Kinabalu carding 91 and 96 to finish second and third respective­ly.

The Under-12 competitio­n was contested over only nine holes and Benedict Wong Zhen Guang won the boy’s title with a score of 38.

Shawn Lam Tse Zhen won second after beating David Richard Mills on countback after both played 43. All three represente­d Kota Kinabalu.

In the Girl’s Under-12, Dynneva Joyce Donni won with 53 shots while teammates Rachel Kenny Wong JiaYi (57) and Shah Izzati Maisarah (61) settled for second and third place respective­ly.
