Top three talented beauties unveiled at pageant
MIRI: Three ladies with a passion for dancing have been judged as the top three winners for Miss Talent - one of the subsidiary titles - for inaugural beauty pageant Miss Grand Miri (MGM) held on Thursday night.
They are Rina Easter (Iban), 22, Cendida Gadung (Kayan), 18, and Daryl Shalini (Berawan/ Iban),18.
Rina who loves all forms of dancing since her childhood days did a Bollywood Dancing Fusion while Cendida, a member of dance troupe Gemala Kencana Riam, executed the Asmaradana Dance and Daryl, a member of the dance troupe for BEM Gateway Mission Senadin, captivated with the Ribbon Dance.
The winner will be announced at the grand finals to be held at Meritz Hotel this evening (Feb 10).
In addition to the grand prize are 14 other subsidiary titles: Miss Cultural, Miss Confident, Miss Favourite, Miss Ethnic Beads, Miss Talent, Miss Congeniality, Miss Intelligent, Miss Lasoul Miri, Miss Social Media, Miss Natural Beauty, Miss Best in Make Up, Miss Catwalk, Miss Body Beautiful and Miss Photogenic.
Sixteen finalists are taking part in the MGM organised by Brenda and Brandan’s Art Paradise, a non-governmental organisation super-passionate about beauty pageants and endorsed by Miri City Council.
Miss Grand Miri MGM founder and divisional director Brenda Yeo said the grand winner will represent Miri in the state-level Miss Grand Sarawak to be held in Sibu from Feb 28 to April 1, 2018 while the first runner-up of MGM will take part in the Miss Grand Marudi, Sarawak on March, 2018.
“In support of the Visit Miri Year this year, we organised MGM with the hope that our representative could win the state level title and the national level Miss Grand Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur in May,” Yeo informed The Borneo Post.
She is confident that Miri has a pool of beauties with brains and that beauty pageants like MGM are not only to unearth talent but for the ladies to build their confidence and networking. They could be ambassadors to promote Miri to the outside world.
