21 families receive RM86,000 under KFC program
KOTA KINABALU: Twenty-one families in Sabah were chosen as beneficiaries to receive donations of more than RM86,000 in total as part of KFC’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative under the Add Hope Distribution Programme to provide monetary assistance and basic groceries to 50 underprivileged families across Malaysia.
The donations were presented to 10 families in an event held at KFC Sulaman Drive-Thru.
The event was attended by staff of KFC Malaysia, along with Lo Yu Foh, Senior General Manager of KFC East Malaysia, as well as KFC’s Add Hope celebrity spokesperson, Scha Alyahya who also handed the donations to the respective recipients.
“We are thankful and proud to have generous customers that always supported our charitable efforts. Because of their generosity, we are able collect funds every year and in turn distribute it to deserving individuals all across Malaysia.
“With Chinese New Year just around the corner, we hope that this contribution will help ease their burden and bring festive cheer to the families,” said Lo in his speech yesterday.
Apart from the donations presented, 11 other families in Kota Kinabalu were happy to receive a visit by Scha and the KFC team for the distribution programme.
Community outreach programmes and charitable activities as such are no stronger to Scha, and this year’s campaign marks her third year being involved with KFC for this noble cause.
Always energetic during distribution rounds, Scha said, “We hope that we could at least make the families smile by our visit and feel relieved from the help that we are giving out.”
The distribution programme is a year-long initiative under the Add Hope campaign by KFC Malaysia to provide much needed relief for the underprivileged families and communities with a main mission to alleviate hunger.
In support of the campaign’s annual fund-raising efforts, Add Hope Distribution Programme also collaborates with relevant government and non-government bodies to act as vehicle to distribute the funds.
