Momogun voters not in favour of Mojigoh, claims Bosi

-

KOTA KINABALU: Kapayan assemblyman Dr Edwin Bosi reminded Putatan member of parliament Datuk Dr Marcus Mojigoh to refrain from playing God.

“How can he be so sure I will lose in this coming 14th general election? I think when he placed the bet he should say ‘I bet Bosi will lose and I (Mojigoh) will not contest in Putatan’. I remember reading his statement of not wanting to contest in GE14,” he said.

Bosi was commenting on Mojigoh’s bet that he (Bosi) would lose in the election.

The Parti Anak Negeri Penampang chief said Mojigoh is one lucky chap as the voters in Lok Kawi and Pulau Gaya supported a Barisan Nasional candidate.

“Although there are substantial Momogun voters in Putatan they seem not in favour of Mojigoh. This was reflected in past election results. Without Lok Kawi and Pulau Gaya, Mojigoh is history,” Bosi asserted in a statement yesterday.

On Mojigoh’s claim he has not done enough for his constituency, Bosi said Kapayan is doing very well.

“It is growing so fast commercially. At this moment the only inconvenience is the construction of the flyovers at Lido.

“I have fought hard on the flood mitigation for Penampang and a large amount of allocation had been approved. Actually it now only boils down to the implementation of the mitigation project.

“I am seeing work on clearing and deepening of the drains and I hope the relevant authorities will do this task on a routine basis.

“My concern is of course the indiscriminate throwing of rubbish into the monsoon drains, discharging them right into the Moyog River and the sea. I appealed for rubbish traps but again, my plea fell on deaf ears. I am aware of the problems faced by many villages in Kapayan but only a caring government can ‘fix’ them,” he said.

Bosi said he was always in touch with the relevant heads of department.

“As a lawmaker, it is only right we have direct connection with the top government officials in our constituency.

“As a former government officer, I know the importance in having a good relationship with the heads of government departments and agencies.

“I will contact the director of Welfare Department to ask for his help to provide assistance to those affected by fire or disabled persons.

“I also contact the OCPDs if there is complaint of security and criminalrelated activities. I am in constant touch with the health officers in Penampang.

“I must say I have been in touch with the District Council and the District Officer of Penampang most of the time to get their attention on many issues in the district. I am also in touch with the road concessionaires.

“I take this opportunity to thank them for their support,” he said.

“When Mojigoh asked what I have done in Kapayan, he should instead ask what has the government done for Kapayan.

“Remember, the government is holding the purse and has the money to construct, maintain and repair works for the wellbeing of the people in Kapayan. I can only raise the problems faced by the electorates,” he added.

Bosi said Mojigoh should be smart that if the government can make the people happy they will vote for his party.

“There is no room for the opposition to make inroad or win in these areas serviced well by the government,” he said.

“The untimely introduction of GST has burdened the people especially in the rural areas. The high cost of fuel and cost of living are making it difficult for the man on the street to make ends meet. “The income is unable to match the rising costs, thus affecting the standard of living of the people. The situation is getting worse,” he said.
