Govt policies aim to ensure peace, prosperity — Salleh

KOTA BELUD: Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak said Malaysians should always be grateful because since Malaysia achieved its independence, the situation remained peaceful as a result of the implementation of policies that took into account the interests of all the people in the country.

He said through policies that were formulated to create continuous peace, stability and prosperity, the people of all races and religions always felt safe and able to enjoy the benefits of development provided by the government.

“We, in Malaysia, generally feel safe, although, sometimes, there were small (untoward) incidents. This is because since independence, the government’s priority is to ensure the country is stable and prosperous.

“We opt for moderate policies. We do not practice extreme ideology, but an ideology that is moderate so that we can ascertain that with unity in the country, our country will continue to progress,” he said.

Salleh, who is also Usukan assemblyman said this in his speech at an Ang Pau Festival here on Friday night.

He said the philosophy “1Malaysia”, and recently “Negaraku”, were continuation of previous policies by the government to instill the feeling of togetherness and brotherhood among Malaysia’s diverse society to preserve and maintain unity among them.

“We give the emphasis that this is our homeland. This is where we were born. This is where we seek education and economic opportunities so that we can together contribute for the development of our country,” he said.

He said the government helmed by Barisan Nasional (BN) would continue with efforts to introduce policies that would continue to safeguard the country’s future and the people’s prosperity.

On the National Transformation 2050 (TN2050), he said it was introduced as a government’s foresight to prepare the future generation with knowledge and skills so that they could continue with the agenda of developing Malaysia into a high-income developed country.

As such, Salleh reminded the people to always be wary and not to be influenced by the action of certain quarters out to undermine the country’s stability.
