TAWAU: World Speech Day will be organised in more than 100 locations around the world on March 15, including in Tawau at Lecture Hall 1 of the Institute of Science and Management (ISM), Datuk Chong Thien Vun Road.
The organizing committee, which comprises mainly of students; are working hard to make this event a success with the guidance of their teacher advisors and World Speech Day National Ambassador, Lee Chye Ewe.
To date, more than 30 speakers have signed up to speak. They are from different age groups, professions and geographical locations.
World Speech Day was conceptualized by Simon Gibson and was organised for the first time in 2016. It is a day made for the celebration of speeches and speechmaking across the globe.
The event will start at 7 pm and is expected to end by 10 pm. Each speaker is given five minutes to share their views on the theme ‘Thoughts of A Better World.’ The speakers could choose to either speak in English, Bahasa Malaysia or in Mandarin.
Lee said World Speech Day offers a golden opportunity for speakers to make their voices heard around the world. It gives the participants a platform to be on the world stage. The public will also benefit from the speakers’ generous sharing.
World Speech Day Malaysia 2018 is open to the general public and entrance is free.
This year, every speaker will receive a custom-made souvenir on top of a certificate of achievement. The first hundred audiences will receive a door gift. All these are given out as a token of appreciation and as a sign of encouragement for their enthusiasm and willingness to support and share.
