Scholarships, financial aid at Melaka-Manipal Medical College

-

MELAKA-Manipal Medical College (MMMC), which celebrated its 20 years in Malaysia in 2017, is regarded very highly for its medical education.

MMMC was the third private medical school to be established in Malaysia in 1997, and it is widely acknowledged that its graduates are greatly skilled and proficient medical professionals.

As part of celebrating its long and successful stay in Malaysia, MMMC now wants to give back to the community as it best can, and for this, it is offering scholarships for those interested in pursuing a medical vocation, but may have feel restrained by financial considerations.

With this in mind, scholarships are now offered to 2017 SPM and ‘O’ Level students whereby “straight-A’s” students can obtain a full scholarship for the MMMC Foundation in Science’s tuition fees. Even those with just 5A’s can obtain a 25% discount, as long as the student meets statutory entry requirements set by the government for MBBS and Dentistry programs.

SPM leavers who wish to follow the noble profession of healing need fret no more about finance constraints.

Students can now apply for the full allocation of RM150, 000 from PTPTN while pursuing the MBBS, which should greatly reduce the economic burdens on parents who would love to see their offspring fulfill their potential as doctors and dental surgeons.

MMMC embarked on its flagship MBBS in 1997 and then launched, what has turned out to be extremely well-regarded, its Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 2009. These programs were followed by the pre-University level Foundation in Science (FiS) in 2012; all its programs are fully accredited by the MQA.

MMMC has been the recipient of many accolades in its fascinating two-decade journey in Malaysia. These tributes include it being the first private medical school being granted a five-year accreditation by MQA / MoHE Joint Technical Committee for its MBBS way back in 2009.

In 2011 it was awarded the Brandlaureate Superbrand Best in Education - Medicine, and accorded six stars consecutively in various categories in 2011 and 2013 in the MoHE’s MyQuest ratings of private colleges.

MMMC’s MBBS needs very little introduction as it has been ‘around’ since the late 1990s. Her alumni can be found practicing their professions very successfully across Asia, Europe and the Americas.

The BDS program has also been so ‘hot’ that its annual intakes are taken up a full 18 months ahead, and if one wishes to enroll for this exceedingly popular dental surgery undergraduate program, the only way into it is via MMMC’s homegrown FiS, who are given the priority into this course before other external applicants.

The Foundation in Science has also turned out to be very popular. When it was launched in 2012, MMMC was the first to include medicine and dentistry subjects in its Foundation curriculum.

This was with the view of introducing students to the basics of subjects they would face in their eventual preferred degree programs, and therefore facilitate their settling down in the MBBS and BDS studies much faster.

In this day and age, where there are just too many institutions that offer medicine and dentistry, it is essential that an absolutely correct choice of medical studies education is chosen.
