6,000 jobs up for grabs at SL1M

KOTA KINABALU: The Skim Latihan 1Malaysia (SL1M) open interview at UMS this weekend caters for job seekers with all levels of qualificat­ion.

Its Chief Secretaria­t Norashikin Ismail said there are a variety of jobs and the qualificat­ion required ranges from PMR to PhD.

Norashikin who was met after the opening of the SL1M open interview by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan yesterday said that 6,000 job vacancies are up for grabs in the two-day event which started yesterday.

“Either you want to become a SL1M trainee or part time employee, contract worker or full time staff, the chances are all here. We also have exhibition­s that involve hobby and passion such as auto show.

“These too can also be an income earner, we also embrace that,” she said adding that SL1M since its inception in 2011 has assisted 144,000 graduates throughout the country.

The allowance for SL1M trainees has been revised to RM2,000 a month, she said adding that they will be trained for a maximum of 12 months and get experience working with the big players which will make their resume better.

Norashikin commented that the crowd in Sabah was very responsive to the program as can be seen by the number of people who came.

“We are providing free shuttle service to and from UMS and the pick up points are from Inanam and near the court house in the City. Grab is also participat­ing in this program by offering RM32 worth of discount per person for rides to and from UMS.

“So there is no reason why they cannot come for the program this weekend,” she said.
