LAHAD DATU: Silam Umno will approach new voters and youths as well as provide explanation so that they will not support the wrong parties.

Silam Umno Division head Datuk Mohd Yusof Apdal said there were about 8,000 new voters in Silam including 4,000 first time voters.

Yusof said various programmes had been implemented to approach the youths to learn about their needs and problems.

He said through the programmes that had been implemented by Silam Umno, the voters had also been briefed on various issues so that they would not be influenced by the opposition.

“We are aware that opposition parties are using various issues including using sentiments that could lead to disunity.

“Therefore, we have briefed the voters so that they will not support any party that could cause disunity,” he said.

Yusof who is also the assemblyman for Lahad Datu said this during the General Election Simulation organized by Silam Barisan Nasional (BN) yesterday.

Yusof said the simulation was an important measure to refresh BN machinery on the election environment.

He said there were a few things that needed to be looked into to ensure the upcoming election would run smoothly.

“Through this simulation, we can say that the BN machinery is now ready for the election,” he said.

Yusof also said he was satisfied with the result of the simulation in which it could avoid matters that could affect the election.
