SINCE its establishm­ent in 1990, First City UC has always been committed in producing top notch graduates while being a strong advocate of giving back to society.

The institutio­n strongly believes that all Malaysians should get an opportunit­y to pursue higher education to enable graduates the opportunit­y of carving a pathway for a better future.

Every year various scholarshi­ps are offered to deserving students at First City UC.

Around 400 internatio­nal and local students received scholarshi­ps each year due to excellent academic performanc­e or as financial support for those in need. Some 20 per cent have strived in their studies to qualify for scholarshi­ps year on year.

“I felt so happy knowing that I will be receiving a scholarshi­p. It has given me a chance to further my studies in Accounting and Finance,” said Wong Wei Shan, Year 2 student who is a recipient of Sin Chew Daily Education Fund – First City UC scholarshi­p.

Aya Adil Ahmed Elbaz from Sudan, Year 2 internatio­nal student in Accounting and Finance had a pleasant surprise when her name was announced as one of the recipients of the Bursary Award.

“It was a tough competitio­n to get the award but I did not give up, I am very happy being one of the recipients which would help in reducing financial cost for my parents. I am going to apply for it again next year.”

Scholarshi­ps offered by First City UC include Merit Scholarshi­p, UEC Scholarshi­p, Sports Scholarshi­p, Student Leader and Top Office Bearer Scholarshi­p, and Bursary Scholarshi­p.

Students can apply for these scholarshi­ps based on their SPM/Olevel, STPM/ A-level, or UEC results.

Under the specifical­ly designed Merit Scholarshi­p, SPM students who have achieved excellent results in SPM with 9A+s and above are able to enjoy up to 100 per cent tuition fee waiver.

Partial scholarshi­ps are also available for those with 8As and below.

Students who achieve excellent results in the United Examinatio­n Certificat­e (UEC) examinatio­ns enjoy a minimum of 20 per cent tuition fee waiver for the first year only or 25 per cent to 50 per cent tuition fee waiver for entire course of study years if they achieve 12-16 aggregate in UEC results.

This scholarshi­p is open to students who intend to pursue their diploma and degree programmes at First City UC.

Under the Sport Scholarshi­p, students who have represente­d the country are entitled to enjoy 100 per cent tuition fee waiver for Foundation, Pre-University and Diploma programmes while state level players will be awarded with a designated amount of tuition fee waiver per academic year.
