Scholarships for uniformed bodies

Some of the sports which qualify for this award include: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Bowling, Football, Hockey, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Wushu, Karate, Diving, Gymnastics, Cycling, Water Polo, Squash, Volleyball, Netball and Rugby.

The Student Leaders and Top Office Bearers scholarships are designed for students who are active in uniformed bodies such as Scout, Girl Guide, St John Ambulance, Boys Brigade and Police Cadet. Under the scholarship scheme, students are entitled to a designated amount of tuition fee waiver per academic year.

Each year First City UC offers Bursary Awards to its current students who have excelled in their studies. Based on acceptable SPM/O-Level results entry requirement, students can commence their Foundation studies with a merit scholarship.

After a year, with good results they can apply for Bursary Award to study Bachelor Degree. When they continue into Year 2, they can apply for Bursary Award again if they achieve excellent results. Similarly for students commencing their study in Diploma programme can apply for Merit Scholarship in Year 1 and Bursary Award continuing into Year 2.

Based on excellent results they apply for Bursary Award again for Year 3. Students who completed their Bachelor Degree and proceed into Postgrad can enjoy Alumni Incentives.

Caleb Lim Lee Wu a Year 3 Electrical and Electronic Engineering student, recipient of the bursary award for three consecutive years expressed his appreciation.

“I wanted to study here. I like the tranquil and green environment. Receiving the scholarship has helped in easing the financial burden for my parents,” he said.

Other scholarships offered at First City UC include the Founder’s Scholarship, in memory of the late Tan Sri Teo Soo Cheng especially for those in need of financial aid. Sibling Incentives are offered to students whose siblings are students at First City UC.

Alumni Incentives are offered to students continuing from their Diploma programme to Bachelor Degree Year 2 or from Bachelor Degree to Postgraduate.

First City UC offers Diploma, Degree and Master Levels in the January, April, May and September intakes for programmes in the disciplines of Mass Communication, Business Studies, Computing, Design and Built Environment, Engineering, and Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Additionally, First City UC collaborates with foreign university partners and institutions to enhance the quality of its programmes.
