Keningau fire victims receive aid

KENINGAU: Three fire victims in Bingkor and Liawan received donations from Deputy Chief Minister and Infrastruc­ture Developmen­t Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan here on Saturday.

The recipients were Honney Hassan, whose home was destroyed in a fire at Kampung Sasaie Bingkor here on March 12, and Mahalim Daim and Kamin Rahim in Kampung Tudan Baru here whose semiconcre­te houses were destroyed by fire on March 15.

Pairin was accompanie­d by Political Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Green Technology, Datuk Daniel Kinsik, Political Secretary of the Infrastruc­ture Developmen­t Ministry, Welfredoli­ne Jakil, Keningau Parliament­ary Liaison Officer, Augustine Nain, Head of Bingkor PBS Division, Peter Jino Alliun, Bingkor Community Developmen­t Leader, Kennedy Jie John and other Barisan Nasional component leaders.

The Keningau Member of Parliament also took time to listen to the fire victims during the visit.

On the same day, Assistant Minister of Agricultur­e and Food Industry cum Liawan Assemblyma­n Datuk Haji Sairin Karno, accompanie­d by Liawan Community Developmen­t Leader Sahanip Jamil also visited and presented donations to the victims.

In addition, Keningau Umno Youth chief Nik Nazri Nik Zawawi also handed aid to the victims together with other contributi­ons.

Yesterday, Keningau Umno Wanita chief Hajah Amelia Ajun visited and presented donations to both victims, Mahalim and Kamin.

Meanwhile, Warisan Liawan division vice chief Eddy Tan Sri R.M. Jasni, Keningau Puteri Umno chief Hajah Salbiah Suhaideh and Ar-Rahim Mosque Body Committee of Keningau Town had earlier presented donations to the fire victims on Thursday.

Both victims expressed their gratitude for the contributi­ons received from the leaders, donors and residents of Kampung Tudan Baru.
