Sabah Master 10-Ball Pool Tournament attracts 48 competitor­s

KOTA KINABALU: Fortyeight players will battle for the Sabah Master 10-Ball Pool Tournament crown from March 20-25.

Defending champion Loo Yew Keat is among the confirmed entries in the tournament to be played at the Sheffield Snooker & Billiards Training Centre in KK Taipan, Inanam.

“Yew Keat’s strongest challenger­s will include the 2016 winner and 2017 runnerup Kok Jken Yung, former national circuit champion Rasid Mambalusan @ Samy and Sabah’s national junior Mohammad Almie Mohamad Yakup,” said SSBA president Frankie Kok here yesterday.

The daily matches will start at 6pm, added Kok of the SSBA and Sheffield jointly organised tournament.

Kok said prize money totalling RM4,200 will be on offer, which is an increased from RM3,400 previously. Apart from that, trophies will also be given to the top four players.

“The winner’s prize money will be RM2,000 which is RM500 more than last year, runner-up RM900 from RM700 previously and the semifinali­sts RM350 each which is RM50 more than in the last edition.

“As for the quarterfin­alists, the prize money remains at RM150 each,” he said while adding the tournament will be played according to the rules and regulation­s of Malaysian Snooker and Billiards Federation (MSBF).

He also reminded the participan­ts to follow the dress code when in competitio­n, otherwise they will be rejected from the tournament.
