FT Ministry’s three projects to cost RM2.28 bln – Tengku Adnan

PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Territory Home Project (Rumawip), public transport terminal and Bumiputera hawkers’ centre will be developed near Putrajaya Sentral in line with the government’s focus to develop high-impact projects that will benefit the people.

Federal Territories Minister, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, said the costs of the three projects were estimated at RM2.28 billion.

He said the Rumawip project, which was the first project implemented here, comprised 2,000 units of houses and it was a continuous government effort to provide affordable homes for the people.

“A total of 500 Rumawip units, with an area of 700 square feet (sq ft) each, will be offered at RM80,000. This offer is the cheapest and will be specifically for Putrajaya residents who earn below RM3,000, or government servants in grade N17 and below,” he told reporters the ground-breaking ceremony here yesterday.

Tengku Adnan said of the total, 90 units would be set aside for the Indian community and 50 for disabled persons.

The units for the disabled persons would have larger doors and disabled bathrooms, he said.

He said the remaining units, which would have an area of 800 sq ft, would be sold at RM270,000 each.

“The Putrajaya Rumawip project is expected to be built in the second quarter of this year and will be completed in 2024,” he said.

He said applications could be made from today through the Rumawip website and screenings would be made for eligible first-time buyers and there would also be a 10-year moratorium on selling the units to avoid speculation on the Rumawip development project.

At the same event, Tengku Adnan also launched the Putrajaya Sentral public transport terminal re-development project to take advantage of the development of the second-largest Mass Rapid Transit route in Putrajaya Sentral which was currently being developed and would be completed in the second quarter of 2022. — Bernama
