Sipping coffee in the dark in support of Earth Hour
KOTA KINABALU: Besides supporting local produce by drinking Tenom Coffee at RM0.60 cents beginning 8:30pm for 60 minutes, the Promenade Hotel Kota Kinabalu will be showing its commitment and support for a green, sustainable future by switching off lights on Saturday, 24th March - joining millions of people worldwide in recognition of the 2018 Earth Hour Campaign, which was initiated by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in support of actions on global climate change.
The Promenade Hotel Kota Kinabalu will mark Earth Hour for the seventh consecutive year by switching off non-essential lights at Hotel Exterior, Hotel Lobby, Promenade Cafe, Lobby Lounge and Dynasty Restaurant for 60 minutes from 8:30pm to 9:30pm.
Besides sipping Tenom Coffee in the Dark, it is also during the same hour that diners / patrons at all restaurants and bar (i.e. Promenade Cafe, Dynasty Restaurant & Lobby Lounge) get to join the #GLOWwithpromenade Facebook Contest whereby hotel guests and diners will be given free colourful glow sticks for them to get creative with their glow sticks and take a photo with them to share on Promenade Hotels & Resort Facebook within the 60 minutes’ time frame.
Another great offer not to be missed is that the first 60 bookers who dine in for Saturday night’s buffet dinner (featuring whole roast lamb) at Promenade Cafe only pay RM80 per person instead of RM98 per person in conjunction with the event.
In the hotel’s Earth Hour Campaign message to hotel guests, the general manager of Promenade Hotel Kota Kinabalu, Hafizan Wong encouraged all to commit to action that go beyond the hour by taking part in several related activities to promote energy conservation and help reduce the effects of global warming.
Such activities include taking a reusable bag for shopping; getting friends to take part in Earth Hour; plant a tree or simply turn off lights in empty rooms as sharing responsibility holds the key to fighting climate change.
