Platform for side income via digital photography creativity

-

KUALA BERANG: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM) has created a platform, KREATIFMARKET. MY, for Malaysians to generate extra income through digital photography creativity.

Its deputy minister, Datuk Jailani Johari said the platform would be managed by MYNIC Berhad, an agency under KKMM.

“In line with KKMM’s core agenda which focuses on empowerment of the creative industry and spurring the country’s digital economy, this programme is seen as a means to raise the people’s standard of living through a skill that can be turned into an asset to generate revenue,” he said.

Speaking to reporters after launching KREATIFMARKET.MY here yesterday, he said the locals for instance, could take and share interesting photographs of attractive places in Hulu Terengganu that had never before been introduced to or visited by outsiders.

“This means we are also indirectly promoting such places to tourists who may visit and shop at the same time, thus boosting the local economy,” he said.

Meanwhile, MYNIC Berhad chief executive officer Datuk Hasnul Fadhly Hassan said KREATIFMARKET.MY was the first platform in Malaysia to commercialise local digital photography.

“It is based on the concept of ‘crowdsourcing’; the community can generate sustainable revenue through sharing their creative digital photographs on a platform that is on par with international ones such as Shutterstock,” he said.

According to him, MYNIC had organised more than 15 series of training throughout the country.

“MYNIC is targeting to upload 30,000 digital photographs on KREATIFMARKET.MY by the end of 2018 and the number can be achieved with the participation of 3,000 more people nationwide.

“To date we have 2,000 participants who have uploaded 11,000 photographs where more than 2,500 images have been approved according to the creative criteria set by us,” he said.

He said participants could potentially earn up to RM600 to a passive income of more than RM5,000 from their photographs on KREATIFMARKET. MY.

“Those interested are welcome to join the online training programme conducted by KREATIF Training Program.MY,” Hasnul said. Bernama
