Yayasan Sabah Group roadshow in Keningau
KENINGAU: Chief Minister cum Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Yayasan Sabah, Tan Sri Musa Haji Aman yesterday officiated at the Yayasan Sabah Bersama Rakyat (YSBR) fifth roadshow at Dewan Masyarakat Keningau.
The roadshow themed Sabah Handicraft Industry Entrepreneurship, Career and Mobile CTC Festival (Festival Usahawan Niaga Industri Kraf, Kerjaya, dan Mobile CTC) was held from March 22 to 24, aimed at sharing information to local communities and the public on career opportunities that are available through Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) besides bring government services to their doorsteps.
This roadshow also encompassed the Mobile CTC programme that has brought many benefits to the people by providing opportunities for communities to get quick and easy access to a myriad of government services.
There were various booths during the roadshow expo from various agencies and entrepreneurs.
Yayasan Sabah Group through Pusat Kraftangan Sabah (PKS) collaborated with six schools, namely SM St. Francis Xavier Keningau, SMK Gunsanad, SMK Gunsanad II, SMJK Ken Hwa, SMK Keningau and Kolej Vokasional Keningau with Sabah Visual Arts Association, Kolej Teknikal Yayasan Sabah (KTYS) and University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) started painting batik at 2,583.8 meters long, from March 16 to 20 breaking the previous record of 2,020 meters achieved in 1996 in Johor Bahru.
The presentation of the recordbreaking longest batik painting in The Malaysia Book of Records was also yesterday.
Among the highlight’s yesterday was on a talk titled Positifkan Diri Tangga Kejayaan delivered by Dato’ A.C Mizal. Mizal is the entertainer and is a respected figure in Malaysia.
In addition to this, YSG through PKS also showcase “Magical Colours of Borneo”, a fashion show featuring local hand-print batik with three collections.
According to the Director of Yayasan Sabah, Datuk Sapawi Bin Haji Ahmad, “Yayasan Sabah Group continues to ensure that what we deliver is relevant, meaningful and empowering for the public. Yayasan Sabah Group, through synergism with other governments, departments and agencies worked together to bring development in the State. Yayasan Sabah Group believes, as we worked with other government agencies, we are able to pull our resources and expertise in order to supplement and complement the government’s role.”
Through its zone office in Keningau, programmes held by YSG in the Interior North Zone from 2003 to 2017 have benefitted more than 190,000 people at a cost of RM7.9 million.
He also explained, “In the process of meeting various demands, the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) which will be completed by the end of 2018 will create opportunities for entrepreneurs as well as small and medium enterprises. SICC will also accelerate the involvement of entrepreneurs especially Bumiputera towards the end of the high-impact tourism chains.”
“Having said that, hospitality and training programmes will also be organised by Kolej Teknikal Yayasan Sabah (KTYS) and University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) in partnership with Accor Hotels Group (the operator for SICC). Selected participants will be given the opportunity to learn and improve their skills after which, further screening through interview will also be carried out to the potential participants in order for them to be employed at SICC,” Sapawi added.
YSG also collaborated with Sabah Federal Treasury under the Ministry of Finance Malaysia, and once again provided the Mobile Community Transformation Centre (CTC), another highlight of yesterday’s roadshow. Mobile CTC provided namely Unclaimed Money (Wang Tak Dituntut), Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M), MyKad and dental checkup, to name a few.
There were also a demonstration of fruits carving, napkins folding, mocktail making presentation, cakes decorating, photo editing and photography presentation, students work in fine arts and visual arts and many more by KTYS and UCSF students.
The roadshow continued to attract strong interest from the local communities there.
