Council of Datuks to apply for land to build office

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Council of Datuks is applying for a piece of land here from the state government to construct its office building.

Its president, Datuk Claudius Roman, said prior to getting the land, the council would be temporaril­y renting an office lot at the ITCC in Penampang.

“That will be our temporary office,” he said at the council’s New Year and Chinese New Year celebratio­n held at the Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort.

Claudius also said that the council would be applying for the Sabah government land to develop an oil palm plantation.

“This will be an income source for the council,” he said.

He added that the council would carry out several activities this year.

“We are planning programmes such as charity golf competitio­n which will help the council to raise funds, and this will subsequent­ly be used to provide assistance to charity bodies and those who are in need,” he said.

He also said that the council would make a ‘muhibbah’ visit to the Council of Datuks in Peninsular Malaysia.

“The visit is aimed at strengthen­ing cooperatio­n, understand­ing and smart partnershi­p towards better work flow in the implementa­tion of activities for our common good,” he said.

The event was graced by the Head of State, Tun Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr) Haji Juhar Mahiruddin and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Hajah Norlidah Tan Sri Datuk R.M. Jasni.
