Security guards, technician charged with supporting terrorism
JOHOR BAHRU: Two security guards and a technician were charged in the Sessions Court here yesterday with supporting terrorism.
The technician, Mohd Zaki Ibrahim, 49, was charged with possession of video recordings on Daesh in a Samsung SM-G900F handphone and a Samsung SMT535 tablet, which belonged to him at the TNB officers’ room, Pencawang TNB PPU, Jalan Permas 3/ 4 Bandar Baru Permas here at 12.30 pm on Feb 27 this year.
The charge, under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to seven years, or fine, and forfeiture of any items involved in the commission of the offence, if found guilty.
The two security guards, Nik Muhamad Zaini Nik Hassan, 37, and Ismadi Md Nor @ Ismail, 30, were jointly charged with making preparations to attack a building at Nor 1, Jalan Abu Bakar here.
They were alleged to have committed the offence at Seri Tomyam, Majidee Corner, Jalan Kemboja, Kampung Dato Sulaiman Menteri, between Dec 11, 2017 and Jan 1, 2018.
The charge, under Section 130JD(1) of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to seven years and shall also be liable to fine, if found guilty.
All of them were charged before judge Kamarudin Kamsun, who them fixed April 26 for mention.
The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Fadzlan Mohd Noor, while the three accused were unrepresented. - Bernama
